MASSALIAZZ

Massaliaz.jpeg

MASSALIAZZ, a beautiful name for this dream project by three amazing Marseille jazzmen with their knowledge of the repertoire, well known to the Provençal public: they deliver music like no other, studded with swing, humor, mischief and gaiety: everything that gives Marseille its incomparable colour.

Michel Zenino has transfigured some gems from Vincent Scotto and the era of the mythical Alcazar, highlighting the lyricism and magnificent sound of Olivier Temime added to the phenomenal swing of Jean-Pierre Arnaud.

MASSALIAZZ's repertoire, composed of popular melodies from our heritage (Félicie aussi, Adieu Venise provençale, Cane Canebière…), constitutes a true tribute to Provence, with a hint of Jazz.
What is a city?
What is the love of a city?
Are all cities loved with love? Not sure.
And Marseille (Massalia)? Certain.
To arms, citizens!

The very hot tenor sax Olivier Temime is taking a break from his Volunteered Slaves to try his hand at the radical formula of the bare trio, with Michel Zenino on double bass, Jean-Pierre Arnaud on drums.

Le Monde

Massaliazz … is both the name of the project and the first album by three Marseilles jazzmen: Olivier Temime, Michel Zenino, and Jean-Pierre Arnaud. Like their city, their music is infused with swing, humor, mischief, and joy. Their concerts bear the imprint of Sonny Rollins, to whom they refer through unbridled improvisations and frenetic rhythms.
